The End Is Near?: Terry G Quits Smoking

                           

Popular dancehall producer and singer Terry G has announced his decision to quit smoking.

This comes as a surprise to most fans, as the artiste was commonly known for his smoking as it was a great part of his music and lyrics.

The TGP Records CEO, who has been known to be addicted to smoking, said he is ready to quit the habit through one his songs performed at the event. According to his lyrics, “Before before I dey smoke, but now I no dey smoke again, God help me.”

Rooney Dumped as Chelsea officially sign Samuel Eto

             

Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o has finally secured his reunion with Jose Mourinho after signing for Chelsea.

The 32-year-old is the second player to arrive at Chelsea from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala following the acquisition of Willian on Wednesday.

Having failed in two bids for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, Chelsea were desperate to bolster their attacking options and moved quickly amid reports that Eto’o was considering a return to Inter Milan.

“I am very happy to be here but also anxious because I want to get playing as soon as possible,” Eto’o told Chelsea club website.

“It wasn’t a hard decision. I saw the qualities Chelsea have, and I was very happy with Jose Mourinho before, so when the opportunity came, I was very happy to take it.”

Four-time African Footballer of the Year Eto’o was an integral part of Mourinho’s Champions League-winning Inter side in 2010, before heading to Anzhi the following year to become the highest-paid player in the world.

Anzhi are in the process of slashing their wage bill with owner Suleyman Kerimov desperate to balance the books of the financially-troubled club.

On the international stage, Eto’o has been a regular for Cameroon after making his debut before he turned 15. At the age of 17 he was the youngest player at the 1998 World Cup in France.

Four years later he scored the winning goal as Cameroon bagged their only victory of the 2002 World Cup by beating Saudi Arabia.

Mourinho moved to bring in Eto’o after appearing to have conceded defeat in the bid to capture Rooney from United.

Rooney played for United against Chelsea on Monday night and Mourinho is not planning a third bid after seeing two offers rejected earlier in the transfer window.

“Rooney,” said Mourinho at a press conference on Thursday. “I told you what I have to say. I think I (made it) very, very clear that we didn’t start the process (a third bid).

“We have nothing more to say. He’s a Man United player and no more than that.”

As Wizkid prepares to release his sophomore album, the singer has released a number of high number collaborations, with the latest being ’90s star Daddy Showkey.

Having already showed off the tracklist from his forthcoming album with promising collaborations with Don Jazzy, Seyi Shay, Efya, Banky W and more new school artistes, Wizkid is taking thing a bit further and has revealed that he would also be releasing a song with the legendary Daddy Showkey.

With 30 minutes in the studio, Wizkid has ascertained that a “jam” has been produced between the musical geniuses from two different generations. We can only look forward to the music they would birth especially after Wizkid’s “Jaiye Jaiye” with Afro king, Femi Kuti a few weeks ago.

Khloe Kardashian Steps Out… WITHOUT Wedding Ring!

It seems a divorce might finally be on the cards as Khloe Kardashian went out with her wedding ring for the first time since marrying Lamar Odom.

MailOnline reports that the 29-year-old star emerged from a gym session in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles without wearing either her wedding or engagement rings.

Looking glum and trying to hide under an oversized blue hooded sweater, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star clutched a bottle of water to her chest, clearly showing a chunky  matte silver band in place of her $850,000 12.5 carat diamond engagement ring.

According to People, Khloe often wears her bling to gym sessions and looked preoccupied after her workout session.

‘She didn’t smile at all and seemed miserable,’ a source told the website. ‘She seemed like she had a lot on her mind.’

The star seemed to want to hide in the zip-up sweatshirt which she matched with three-quarter black leggings, a white T-Shirt and black trainers.

Khloe has not been spotted out with her basketball star husband since June 2 and  claims surfaced last month that Lamar had cheated on her, which he denies.

Lamar has also been spotted staying at hotels close to the home he shares with his wife of nearly four years, sparking further rumours of marriage trouble.

But a source told People that the 32-year-old sportsman only stays at a hotel when the family reality show is shooting at their home, adding that Khloe is ‘very loyal’ to her husband.

Chris Brown Sentenced To 1000 Hours Of Community Labour

                           
A judge has reinstated singer Chris Brown’s revoked probation, slapping him with a thousand hours of community labour.

ABC News reports that Brown’s current legal troubles are the latest repercussions of his arrest four years ago for assaulting his former girlfriend, Rihanna.

The popular R&B singer sat in a courtroom for nearly an hour as his lawyer, Mark Geragos, and a prosecutor shuttled in and out of the judge’s chambers, with Geragos apparently seeking his client’s approval for a plan to keep him from facing more serious consequences.

Superior Court Judge James Brandlin finally emerged and announced that an agreement had been reached.

Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray withdrew a request to rescind Brown’s probation because of a hit-and-run charge that was dismissed in another court Thursday.

Brandlin then told Brown he must perform 1,000 hours of community labor with one of four public programs: California Department of Transportation highway cleanup, graffiti removal, beach cleanup or Probation Alternative Work Services.

Brown, 24, didn’t speak during Friday’s hearing, other than to agree to the deal worked out while he waited in the courtroom with his mother and two other people.

The singer has been in and out of court since pleading guilty to the 2009 assault on Rihanna. Besides making reports on fulfilling the requirements of an earlier order for community labor, he has had subsequent run-ins with the law for assault and traffic accidents.

The work that Brown did previously does not apply to the new sentence, said district attorney’s spokeswoman Jane Robison. Brown has a year to perform the work and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 20 for a progress report.

Brown, who won a Grammy in 2011 for Best R&B Album with “F.A.M.E.,” could ask the court to end his probation when he completes the community labor, but the final decision on the length of probation will be up to a judge.

According to the latest Forbes' latest rankings Calvin Harris became the highest-paid DJ in the world, dethroning the legendary David Guetta.

The other top DJ’s of the world include the likes of Deamau5, Skrillex, David Guetta, Pauly D and others. Harris was not on the highest-paid list in 2012, but this year he overtook the previous champion Tiesto, whose $22 million intake last year rose to $32 million this year, but still not enough to equal with the new leader.

Anyone who thought DJing wasn't a lucrative art form should reconsider, as Harris tops the list with a $46 million salary – placing his earnings ahead of those of Jay Z, Katy Perry and Beyonce (data for the latter artists is from Forbes' 2012 list, they may have grossed more this year).

Calvin Harris, 29, has produced and released three of his own albums, one of which debuted during the qualifying period for this Forbes roundup, and has recently worked with Rihanna, Ne-Yo and Florence Welch.

Harris also notched eight Top 10 hits in the U.K. off the album, a record. Tracks like "I Need Your Love" (featuring Ellie Goulding), "We Found Love" (with Rihanna) and "Let's Go" (featuring Ne-Yo) have become mainstays on dance-floors around the world.

Forbes factors in business dealings and collaborative work for these DJs, many of whom serve as producers and songwriters for other artists. Afrojack, for example, has spearheaded singles for Pitbull and Will.I.Am, while Diplo has worked with M.I.A., Chris Brown and Beyonce.

Lady Gaga Releases New Single

Applause,the singer's first new material since 2011, was originally scheduled for release on 19 August.

Leaks are almost a fact of life for today's pop stars, with Beyonce, Katy Perry and Jay-Z all seeing unauthorised material appear online this year.

Of 2013's major releases, only David Bowie managed to keep his new album under wraps.

The release of his comeback single, Where Are We Now, on the morning of his 66th birthday came as a surprise to fans and critics around the world.

Low quality clips from Gaga's record first began to appear online on Saturday.

"Lord in heaven, why?" the 27-year-old tweeted, blaming hackers for the leak. "You just couldn't wait. This is too much for one Saturday."

At first, she mobilised fans - asking them to report leaks to her record label - but by Monday evening she had relented and released the song to radio and online stores.

A short burst of robotic pop, Applause has so far received positive reviews.

Calling the single a "throwback" to her earlier material, Rolling Stone said "Applause is all bouncy disco and simple messages".

Billboard magazine said it was "built around pulsating synthesizers and morphs into a thrilling dance cut when it circles back to its chorus".

But Spin magazine said Applause "offers few reasons to clap", calling the track "bland" and "behind the times".

Lady Gaga is due to give the first performance of the single at the MTV Awards on 25 August. Her third album, ARTPOP, will be released in November.

2Face Idibia Stops Over In London For Upcoming Videos & Interview With VOX Africa

International Nigerian superstar, 2Face Idibia took a quick day trip to London in preparation for his upcoming video shoots for ‘Dance in the Rain’ and ‘Spellbound’.  

2face sat down for an interview with Fernand Frimpong Jr., the presenter of the Voxafrica’s magazine show, THL (The Hi-Life). The star answered questions about everything from the rise of Afrobeats to his daughter’s Nollywood debut.

When asked about Afrobeats mainstream appeal 2Face said, “There was a dream and the dream is coming true, you know. I’m very, very proud and very, very happy with the way things are going. Even though I’m saying that, I still want the guys to work hard and keep their heads straight and you know still keep their focus and take it to the next level.”

When asked about his daughter’s Nollywood debut the musician replied, “Abeg make we leave that film matter.”

He also addressed the reason why he chose to get married to his long time on again off again partner, Nollywood actress Annie Macaulay in Dubai. He said, “When we wanted to do it, Dubai came to mind and that’s why it was Dubai. It could have been anywhere. There’s no like any ghen ghen reason why it was Dubai.”

2Face will be back in London in a few weeks time to film his music videos.

419: Wizkid Impostor Dupes Man Of N300,000

The level of  fraud both online and otherwise in the country is becoming increasingly alarming.

It’s just about 2 months ago since the superstar – Wizkid was arrested by the Nigerian Police Force for allegely charging N500,000 for a show in Unilag and his failure to appear for the show.

It was later discovered to a false allegation; funny enough, exactly the same scenario has played out in Owerri again. At least, Wizkid has held accountable this time.

An Owerri,Imo State-based businessman, Chief Chukwudi Ofoha. He is the CEO of Ibari Ogwa, a popular hangout located in the World Bank area of Owerri.
Showtime gathered that the impostor who claimed to be Wizkid was contracted by one Mr. Ugochukwu Favour Mayor on behalf of Chief Ofoha for a show at the hangout. The impostor is said to have charged the latter the sum of N1million. And in sealing the deal, an advance payment of N300,000,00 was allegedly paid into the impostor’s UBA account.
An insider told Showtime that shortly after the payment was made,the impostor switched off his cell phone, thereby raising the suspicion that he was not the real Wizkid.
Based on this development, the CEO of Ibari Ogwa is said to have arrested and detained Mr Mayor at the State CID in Owerri.
Meanwhile, a source who confirmed the development during the week hinted that the impostor is still demanding for the balance of N700,000,00 from his victim.

APGA suspends Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State

                        
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) yesterday suspended Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State after accusing him of being involved in anti-party activities. The party voted to remove Okorocha at an emergency National Executive Council meeting which held in Abuja yesterday afternoon following Okorocha's recent dissolution of his cabinet and alleged membership of the opposition coalition, All Progressives Congress (APC).

APGA is accusing him of dissolving his cabinet so he could include more members of the newly registered political party, APC, in his government.  

“The NEC unanimously resolved to suspend, with immediate effect, the Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okoroacha, from the party for gross anti-party activities, bordering on his involvement with the All Progressives Congress contrary to the clear provisions of the APGA constitution." The National Vice-Chairman of APGA (South-West), Tayo Sowunm said yesterday.
