Tonto Dikeh Facing 15-Year Prison Sentence Following Marijuana Pictures

You should learn to watch what you put up on social media, especially when you’re a celebrity.

Tonto Dikeh might be in a lot of trouble after officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency stated that she could face up to 15 years in jail for taking pictures of banned substances and encouraging their consumption.

Dikeh had on Friday posted photographs of a wrap of hemp and grains of the weed formed into the letters, ‘Happy birthday POKO.’

She also posted a photograph of herself and added the inscription, ‘Mi smoke ganja mi smoke weed while my hatez smoke ma gossip.’

Her picture is a close-up of her face that seemed to depict her in a high state.

When Saturday PUNCH contacted NDLEA for comments, its spokesman, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the matter would be investigated.

He said the matter had been referred to the appropriate department of the agency.

Ofoyeju said, “Our attention has been drawn to the post quite frankly and I can tell you that action will be taken on it. The law is clear and NDLEA has been very clear on the issue. No one is permitted to sell, use, cultivate or encourage the use of Indian hemp in Nigeria. The weed is one of the banned narcotics in the country.

“NDLEA Act Section 14 (b) states that any person who conspires with, aids, abets, counsels, attempts to commit or is an accessory to any act or offence referred to in this act shall be guilty of an offence under this act and liable on conviction to be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not less than 15 years and not exceeding 25 years.

“Investigation has not started as of now but definitely, a step has to be taken on the matter. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse; so, it is obvious that the actress stands the risk of 15 years jail term. The appropriate department is meeting on the issue for necessary action.”

The NDLEA spokesman, however, declined to give any hint on particular steps the agency would take in its investigation, citing reasons bearing on ethics.

Dikeh’s post has expectedly drawn mixed reactions from readers, with many of them voicing concern for the way she is living her life.

2 Nigerians, Victor Oladipo & Giannis Adetokunbo Get Drafted Into The NBA

Two Nigerians, Victor Oladipo & Giannis Adetokunbo have been drafted into the NBA this morning during the annual NBA draft event.

Victor Oladipo was taken in at Number 2 by the Orlando Magic while Adetokunbo was the 15th pick, selected by the Milwaukee Bucks.

Both will hope to have successful NBA careers like Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon, who was the 1st pick of the ’84 draft.

21-year old Oladipo previously played for the basketball team at Indiana University, while 18-year old small forward Adetokunbo was selected out of Greece.

Whether both players will play for the Nigerian national basketball team is yet not known.

Supreme Court dismisses California's Proposition 8 appeal

The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal over same-sex marriage on jurisdictional grounds, ruling Wednesday private parties do not have "standing" to defend California's voter-approved ballot measure barring gay and lesbian couples from state-sanctioned wedlock.
The ruling clears the way for same-sex marriages in California to resume.The 5-4 decision avoids, for now, a sweeping conclusion on whether same-sex marriage is a constitutional "equal protection" right that would apply to all states.
At issue was whether the Constitution's guarantee of equal protection under the law prevents states from defining marriage to exclude same-sex couples, and whether a state can revoke same-sex marriage through referendum, as California did, once it already has been recognized.More here.

Following a horrible blow up earlier today over marshmallows, Fatima and Sulu have decided to bury the hatchet and are back on speaking terms.

In case you missed it, Fatima and Sulu went at it this afternoon after Sulu ate Fatima's marshmallows. An incensed Fatima stomped around the House, ticked off at how inconsiderate Sulu had been. Head of House Feza had to step in to calm the situation, which threatened to spill over into something much more serious.

This evening, the two sat around the fire sharing stories and laughing like nothing had happened. Sulu was his normal jolly self as he discussed this week's Task as well as last week's party. "Showing up wearing women’s clothes was such a brilliant idea. I bet the Diamonds will show up in bikinis this week because we raised the bar", he said with a chuckle.

Fatima also joined in and mentioned how she feels Hakeem would not have gone through with wearing a dress. "I don't think he would have done it. It would have taken a lot of convincing", she said.

Chris Brown Charged With Hit-And-Run; Could Face Prison Sentence

Barely 2 days after he was accused of showing a woman in a club, Chris Brown is in more serious trouble which could lead to jail time.

24-year old Breezy, who is still on probation for beating up ex-girlfriend Rihanna, allegedly rear-ended another car and faces up to six months in jail on each misdemeanor charge, L.A. City Attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan said.

He will be arraigned in Los Angeles Superior Court on July 15, Mateljan said.

Chris Brown termed the allegations as “ridiculous”, claiming the woman “saw the cameras and wanted to make a scene.”

“It’s not a hit and run if u get out the car, exchange information (who has NO DAMAGE to either cars). This is really ridiculous,” he wrote on Twitter.

“I have a valid drivers (sic) license and I gave the woman the right info. She saw cameras and wanted to make a scene,” Brown said. “I will not stand for this bullying and yellow journalism!”

2face, Wizkid, Ikechukwu Others Diss D’banj DKM Concert

Victoria Island, Lagos, glowed bright-red last night Sunday June 23rd as D’banj hosted thousands of fans to his much talked about DKM Concert which held at the Eko Hotel and Suites.

The concert served as the launch of his DB Records debut compilation album ‘D’ King’s Men‘ and saw performances from D’banj, Kay Switch, rappers Olamide, Naeto C, Phyno and Pop artiste KCEE. Other performers included DJ Zeez and upcomers Sean Tizzle, Omo Akin, Ace and Pepsol.

However, 2face, Wizkid, Ikechukwu, Durella and DB Records JSol didn’t grace the stage despite earlier announcements of their performance at the concert.

Wizkid was sighted at the event but didn’t get on stage. 2face we gather is in Houston US for a performance at Industry Nite. Ikechukwu, Durella and J Sol cannot be accounted for.

The concert climaxed with performances from international acts – US rapper 2 Chainz, Congolese sexy singer Fally Ipupa, and South African musical group Mafikizolo.

The show was hosted by The Beat FM’s Toolz and comedian AY with an earlier backstage voice over from Illryhmz.

Jackie Chandiru’s singing career on the line

Singing diva Jackie Chandiru needs no introduction when it comes to what she can do on the stage. From the time she made her breakthrough with Coca Cola girl group Blu*3, she has had a never-back-down attitude. 

And even when the group split to embark on solo careers, she soldiered on despite many telling her that she wouldn’t be up to the task. She proved them wrong dropping one hit single after the other, from Agassi, Don’t Call His Phone, Shamim, and Minti Agro.  

But just when she was preparing her first album, she was informed by doctors that her existing heart problem had got worse. As a result, she spends most of her time indoors and rarely comes out unless it is completely necessary. 

The singer, who has never been media shy now prefers her manager Julie Erusa to speak on her behalf. 

Erusa explained that the "problem has been there for some time and it kept on growing".

She added that all preparations have been made to have the singer flown to India for a heart operation, but refused to reveal details of Jackie's itinerary or the hospital she would be going to.

“Family and friends raised the money, and we are sorted with that,” she said.  

For the most part, Jackie is keeping a low profile due to her health concerns, but she recently participated at an unplugged session in a Kampala nightclub.

“The stage is where she finds peace, there is no way I could stop her. It where she feels at home and forgets all her worries,” Erusa said.

Nelson Mandela In Critical Condition

The South African presidency says the health condition of Nelson Mandela has become critical.
Zuma says in a statement that the doctors are "doing everything possible to get his condition to improve."The office of President Jacob Zuma said that the president had visited the 94-year-old anti-apartheid leader on Sunday evening, and was informed by the medical team that Mandela's condition had become critical in the past 24 hours.

Mandela, who became South Africa's first black president after the end of apartheid in 1994, was hospitalised on June 8 for what the government said was a recurring lung infection.

A day earlier, the anti-apartheid icon's grandson, his grandson Mandla Mandela, said his grandfather was getting better and was expected to be discharged from hospital soon.

When he was first taken to hospital in early June, reports said the ambulance carrying Mandela had broken down.

Zuma said that in that incident, "all care was taken to ensure that his medical condition was not compromised."

He also dismissed media reports that Mandela had suffered a heart attack.

Don Jazzy Donates N1m To OJB, Calling On Other Artistes To Please Do Same

Don Jazzy has got to be the most generous Nigerian celebrity ever. A few weeks ago he gave a mutual friend of ours who has kidney issues, N1million.

I kinda asked the guy to ask Don Jazzy, and a few days later, he calls me to say IDJA gave him N1m. And today I found out that he has also donated N1million to prolific music producer, OJB Jezreel.

He did it quietly a few days back but when I found out, well, I just had to share it. And let's not forget the N2million he gave cancer patient Funmi Lawal last year and many things I hear he does very quietly.

God bless him. Also, thanks to Ruggedman who has also donated to OJB.

Now calling on other artists to please do same. OJB Jezreel needs N15million for a kidney transplant in India.

This guy has done so much for music in Nigeria and had helped so many Nigerian artists achieve success. Now is the time to give back.
